Sue, would you please pass this story on. For Nancy Hicks question;
"Is William A. Prince the son of Josiah?"

I, Anna Prince, b.28 May 1935, am the g g granddaughter of Josiah Prince. I was born at Isabella Tennessee, on the original Prince land, patented 1840-42, by Josiah Prince and his sons, Ephraim and my g grandfather. James Prince, son of Josiah.

The answer is '"William A Prince is a grandson of Josiah.
Josiah b.1772 SC? d. 1845 buried, Bethlehem cemetery, had a son named Ephraim b. 1806, SC, d.16 Nov 1867, buried Bethlehem Cemetery.... Ephraim had a son named William A. born 22 Jan 1829. And two daughters named Adaline and Mary J...

Later, William A. joined the army as a mounted Confederate soldier in the civil war. He was a horse soldier and fought from his horse. He was sent from Tennessee to Vicksburg. In the heat of the battle of Vicksburg, young William Prince was injured and near death, with a bad wound. The wound almost killed him and he was unable to fight again. William laid helpless there, for many months. But as soon as he was able to ride, he limped his way back home to Isabella on horseback. At Isabella, he lived on his father Ephraim's land, ( which included the Bethlehem church and cemetery, area). Grandpa Josiah was now dead.
( some background information )
William A. as a child, had traveled , with his Grandpa Josiah, father of Ephraim, his uncles, Willis, James ,Cooper, Andrew Jackson, Isham and his aunt Sissley. In other words,
Little William A.'s father was Ephraim. Had a sister, Sisley and many brothers.
Lt. Wm. A.'s parents were, Ephraim, 1806,SC, d. 16 Nov 1867,
and his mother was Lucinda Stillwell Prince b.1806 NC d.7 Nov 1865
buried at Bethlehem, and his sisters, were Adaline and Mary J. They had traveled from Pendleton, SC, where he was born, to live on the Ocoee River (now Ocoee Lake) in the early 1800's. Arriving at Ocoee River, they struck a deal with a local Indian to buy some land overlooking the Ocoee River, So they bought a mountain and called it Prince Mountain, (they bought the mountain by trading a pony to Indians for the mountain). The family lived there awhile, then they moved to NC, Cherokee County, Why all the traveling? Well, the land was wilderness. Supplies were hard to come by. Trading posts were important. Tennessee was a new state. Counties were just being names. Land was becoming available for ownership for the first time ever.
The Josiah Prince family of sons, daughters and grandchildren, including little William A. finally settled for life in Isabella Tennessee in 1840, in the now, Copper Basin, and again, named their land Prince mountain.
There they named James Prince mountain, (where I was born) and Ephraim Prince Mountain, which exist until this day. There is a creek that runs through Isabella called Ephriam Prince branch. ( I found the creek one day, and my little grand-daughter, Krissy and I waded the Ephraim Prince Branch and gathered pretty rocks, for keep sakes.) William A. finally healed from his civil war wounds, while at home, and ran for political office and was elected Constable of Ducktown, Tennessee. He was a Democrat and a Mason and served well. ( I remember my uncle Rass: William E Prince b. May 30, 1912, saying that as a small boy about the year 1920, he loved to visit his namesake, his uncle Bill, Lt. William A., ( the Civil war soldier hero, and ride on his buggy with him, that was pulled by a horse. ) They all lived at Isabella, Tennessee, Polk County, now known as the Copper Basin. This is where father Josiah settled with his family on patented land in 1840.One can see this land from Bethlehem Cemetery Hill, located at Isabella.
I bought thirty six acres of the Ephraim Prince land in 1991. Again, I am Anna Prince, 28 May 1935, b. on James Prince Mountain. James Prince
b.1820 is son of Josiah and brother of Ephraim, Willis, Andrew Jackson, Cooper, Isham, and Sisely . I live in Nashville, now. These stories come partly from word of mouth, stories passed down from ancestors, and partly from the Tennessee State archives, Nashville, and from yours and my combined research.
