Wiley Prince is listed on the 1836 Tax List of McMinn Co., TN. His is listed with Josiah and Andrew J. Prince.  All three are in District 13. Isham Prince is listed in District 11. This is interesting since the 1830 census of Monroe Co., TN shows Josiah Prince residing near William Prince. Six years later the 1836 tax list shows Josiah Prince near Wiley Prince. This lends some weight to [the] surmise that the 1830 William may actually be Wiley Prince.

The 1840-1843 county court minutes of Polk Co., TN, shows that in February 1840, Wiley and Josiah Prince owed a note to the county for $10. (Again we see these two men together) This same list shows that Ephraim Prince owed $20.

On April 18, 1840, Wiley Prince sold lot #63 in Benton, Polk Co., TN for $10.

The Polk County Delinquent Tax List for 1840 shows the names of Wiley Prince, (Andrew) Jackson Prince and Cooper Prince. The Polk County Delinquent List for 1841 shows the names of Wiley Prince, Daniel Prince, (Andrew) Jackson Prince, James Prince, Isham Prince.

In summation, we see the following Prince's listed together in 1840-41 Polk Co., TN, which indicates a close relationship between them: Wiley, Josiah, Ephraim, Cooper, (Andrew) Jackson, Daniel, James and Isham (Isom).

The above delinquent tax information is vital because it shows Wiley Prince as being a resident of Polk Co., TN, 1840 and 1841, which overlaps the census year of 1840. However, the 1840 census of Polk County does not show a Wiley Prince, but instead shows a Willie Prince. He is listed right among Isham, Ephraim, Josiah, Andrew J., and Cooper Prince, all of who appear on the delinquent tax list. Can there be any doubt that "Willie" is actually Wiley Prince?  There's no doubt in my mind that this is a fact. We know Wiley was there in 1840-41, so he must be the Willie listed on Page 8 of the 1840 census of Polk Co., TN.

There's a Civil War pension application made by William J. Prince, born in Polk Co., TN, on July 4, 1841. (The census shows him to be the son of Andrew Jackson Prince) His application was witnessed by his brother Andrew Wiley Prince, who was living in Fannin Co., GA, in 1892. An affidavit was signed by James Prince, age 73, in 1893, giving a birth date of 1820. He is probably the uncle of the applicant William J. Prince and a brother of Andrew Jackson Prince.  He undoubtedly [is] the same James Prince listed in the 1850 census of Polk Co., TN. The fact that Andrew Jackson Prince named a son Andrew Wiley Prince tells me that older Wiley Prince was most likely a brother of Andrew.
